It is a different feeling for everyone; there is no right or wrong and
certainly no typical reaction. Some people say they feel feel a deep sense
of calmness and feeling of relaxation, others say their arms or legs feel
“heavy” while others report feeling "light and floaty” or tingly. Everyone's
experience is unique; some people don't feel anything specific, just really
relaxed.
As your hypnotherapist I will verbally help to guide you into a state of
psychological and physical relaxation - to someone looking at you it may
look as though you are sleeping; in actual fact you are just feeling very
relaxed yet fully aware of everything. Whilst you are in this state of
relaxation I will work with your subconscious mind, which can be more open
to positive suggestions and exploration, to help you to stimulate helpful
changes. If at any time you feel uncomfortable and want to stop, then you
will be perfectly capable of doing so.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
The vast majority people can be hypnotised; the exceptions are those who are
mentally subnormal, very young children or those who are under the influence
of drugs or alcohol. Everybody else can be hypnotised provided they want to
be. If somebody does not want to be hypnotised, cannot understand what is
expected of them or is resisting for some reason, they will have difficulty
entering hypnosis.
Those who tend to respond the best to hypnotherapy are people who have a
strong mind, great concentration, imagination and who are self determined to
achieve their goals!
Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
No you can't get stuck in hypnosis. It is impossible; you can leave the
hypnotic state yourself at any point simply by choosing to. You are
conscious & aware throughout.
Will I suddenly do stupid things like act like a chicken afterwards or
during my session?
Definitely not.
Can I be hypnotised against my will?
No, absolutely not! I need your full co-operation and agreement in order to
provide treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different; people have diverse issues to deal with so it is
impossible to be precise about how many sessions you will need but I will
give guidance on this during your free telephone consultation.
What should I expect from my first visit?
During your first appointment we
will discuss in more detail the problems you want to resolve and what might be the best
method to deal with them. Once this is agreed upon and you are happy to
proceed then we will begin working with your subconscious. The exception to this is if you schedule an
appointment for “Stop Smoking” - this is a single
session, lasts around two hours and includes a consultation and
hypnotherapy.
What if my problem seems a bit silly or rather embarrassing?
I have been trained to deal with everyone’s issue professionally, discreetly
& compassionately. I will not judge you nor will I repeat what you tell me
as part of your therapy; all information is treated in the strictest
confidence. You might be surprised to know just how many people share your
fear or issue; you might think it's daft or stupid but it's highly unlikely
you are the only one! A hypnotherapist cannot make you tell them all your
secrets or information you do not want to share freely; however in order to
receive the very best treatment you do need to be as candid and honest as
possible.
Can a hypnotherapist guarantee results?
No. Hypnotherapy is not a solution for every problem; but it could be an
effective treatment for many problems where psychological factors are
present. Just as a doctor could not make promises about the efficacy of a
prescribed medication, neither can a hypnotherapist guarantee results
because everyone is different.
Is hypnotherapy an alternative therapy?
No. Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy. Clients with medical
issues must first consult their doctor for agreement before proceeding with
hypnotherapy and continue to take any prescribed medication.
